Service in Cafeteria.

This is the article I wrote about service in our cafeteria.

Service in the Cafeteria

The cafeteria at Elmira District Secondary School has changed to the JC vending company getting rid of the old cafeteria and people’s opinion on the service are varied.

Christine Brown, a student from E.D.S.S., says that the cafeteria is really slow but it works.

"It works but not as well as it used to," she said.

Brook Frey, also a student of E.D.S.S, also says it’s a tiny bit slow. She also said that the new caf ladies are just as nice as the ones they replaced but they close earlier than the old ones.

Heidi Kolb, one of the VPs at E.D.S.S, says she finds the service enjoyable.

"I find the new cafeteria service enjoyable and friendly and helpful and when I go down I can have a chit-chat with the new caf ladies," she said. She also went on to say that the service here is what you have in most cafeterias and it’s also the same as the food court at a mall. She also said that the caf ladies are going to take time out of their lives and do the maple syrup festival just like before.

A student also said that they saw the caf ladies take some donated spoons and forks that people could take for free because the spoons and forks now cost money.

Tyler Lubberts, another student at E.D.S.S., said "They ‘fixed’ the caf" as he air quoted.

Tyler went on to say that they did very little for the caf; all they did was adding a little plaster to make it look fixed. He also said that it’s hard to comment on the new caf because they have been given very little information about the company and that there have been confusion about what has been happening with the new caf and that students have heard false information about it and most people don’t even know that it’s the JC Vending Company that’s taken over.

He also said that they can’t do fundraisers at the school that involve food now because JC vending doesn’t want any competition to their sales even though those fundraisers severely helped some clubs and classes.

He also heard that some people were stockpiling food from the caf when they heard it was changing because the new one doesn’t have the same food that many people loved from the old one.

Some teachers refuse to comment because they haven’t been to the caf yet even though they went to the old one. Other people also said they find the new caf ladies imposing and scary and that they don’t like the new food prices. Some people have also said that they really miss the caf cookies.
